Rossland is a true Nordic town located in the Monashee Mountains (1,030 m/3,400 ft.) in the Kootenay Rockies - Canada's second highest elevation city. Rossland has the highest Nordic skiers per capita in Canada with over 700 club members and thousands of visitors.The picturesque mountainside community features a lively main street lined with heritage mining era buildings occupied by boutique shops, restaurants and services. Just minutes from main street, you'll find hundreds of kilometres of world-class cross country ski trails and first-rate facilities. Black Jack Ski Trails, located only minutes from winter resort Red Mountain is one of BC's premier nordic skiing venues. Black Jack has hosted international events including the Haywood NorAm in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011; the BC Winter Games in 2006 and 1982; the Canadian Masters Championships in 2007 and regularly hosts dryland and on-snow training for the Canadian National Nordic and Biathlon teams. The Black Jack Ski Club is the home of Canadian national champion, world cup podium finisher and two-time Olympian George Grey.
